Recipes, editing and favorites
Edit a recipe
Section titled “Edit a recipe”Editing needs Mealie 3.21 or later. Open a recipe, tap the More (•••) button, and choose Edit Recipe. You can change the title, description, servings, times, ingredients and section headings, steps, tags and categories already in your library, and notes. Forked changes only what you edited and keeps everything else in the recipe exactly as Mealie has it.
Use the Library’s + button to add a new recipe, and More → Replace Photo to change a recipe’s photo.
Edits made offline are sent later; see Editing while offline.
Why can’t I edit a recipe?
Section titled “Why can’t I edit a recipe?”A recipe locked by its owner in Mealie can be edited only by that owner, and some Mealie households block edits to other households’ recipes. Forked hides Edit for recipes it knows are locked; if your server refuses an edit, the recipe says so and lets you discard the change. Forked never changes a recipe’s lock setting.
Favorites and ratings
Section titled “Favorites and ratings”Forked changes your Mealie favorites and ratings only when you do. With Mealie 3.21 or later, favorites and ratings you set in Forked (on a recipe, a Library card, or a Quick Picks card) are saved to your Mealie account. Your Chef Profile can still prefer favorites or skip low-rated recipes. With older Mealie versions, Forked only reads them.
Marking a meal cooked
Section titled “Marking a meal cooked”With Mealie 3.21 or later, marking a planned meal Cooked also records the date as the recipe’s Last Made in Mealie. Mealie only moves that date forward, so undoing Cooked in Forked changes your plan but not Mealie’s date.
Deleting a recipe
Section titled “Deleting a recipe”More → Delete Recipe deletes it from your Mealie server for everyone, after a confirmation that names the recipe. It needs a connection to your server. Meal plans, Plan History, and shopping lists keep their own copy of the recipe’s name.
