Offline use and saved data
What Forked keeps on your device
Section titled “What Forked keeps on your device”Forked keeps synced recipes, saved picks, meal plans, chef profiles, and shopping lists on your device, and saves each recipe’s full content for offline reading in the background after sync. When your recipe server is slow or unreachable, Forked uses saved data for the Library, recipe pages, Quick Picks, Meal Plans, Shopping, Profile, and Settings.
What needs your server
Section titled “What needs your server”Server access is still required for:
- First sync and fresh recipe updates
- Recipes not yet saved for offline reading
- Server unit lists
- Refreshing favorites and ratings
- Deleting a recipe
- Opening the recipe in Mealie or the original website
Editing while offline
Section titled “Editing while offline”Your change shows on your device right away and is sent when your server is reachable. If someone changed the same part of the recipe on the server in the meantime, the recipe says Changes not saved with Review. Review shows both versions:
- Keep the server’s version. Yours stays restorable for 30 days from the recipe’s More menu.
- Use yours.
- Save yours as a new recipe.
Changes to different parts of a recipe are combined automatically.
When Mealie stops accepting the sign-in
Section titled “When Mealie stops accepting the sign-in”If Mealie stops accepting Forked’s sign-in, for example because its API token was deleted, a banner at the top says “Mealie didn’t accept your sign-in. Recipes aren’t updating.” Tap Sign In to connect again. Saved recipes, plans, and Shopping keep working in the meantime.
Household sync works offline too, with its own rules: see Offline and simultaneous edits.
